Illinois currently has a law on the books that prevents any new or currently closed landfills from operating in Cook County. Unfortunately, the law preventing landfill operations is at risk because the waste industry is actively working to eliminate the restrictions so they can once again operate landfills in our neighborhood.
No dumps, no deals.
The ordinance to ban landfills in Cook County has been referred to the environmental committee of the board of commissioners and should be heard at the next full board meeting on April 17th.
